The Kennebec River is the only river in Maine that holds brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout and landlocked salmon. There have been many days that all four have been caught in the same day while drifting it's various sections. My largest brown and rainbow trout on a fly have come from the Kennebec. It is full of deep runs, pools, and riffles with fish hiding behind nearly every rock! Average size of any species is 12 to 16 inches with many over 18 inches and some over 20. The first three miles or so of river moves quickly before it widens out and slows down where smallmouth bass are abundant and the occasional largemouth. Full day trip includes lunch on one of the many islands where some wade fishing can take place. Price is for one or two people, third person is extra $50, three people maximum Wade trips are available as well and there are many places in various areas of the Kennebec to walk and wade with incredible fishing.
